I believe the bible story and ancient iconography did not fully mention the feminine aspect or portray its wisdom. This is more like a self-portrait than an icon. The image marks the time when I stepped out of the darkness into the light to find an angel stirring up the spirit within me. Christ is present, raining down like a stream of commitment to all of humanity. I just happened to be standing there. In her solitude, she knows she has been written into creation; she creates, loves, and has been given to the world. Today, women continue to speak to the Spirit and Christ. 21”x 24”
